About
Aussie legend Courtney Barnett today announces her Creature of Habit New Zealand tour dates for November.
More than five years since her last sold-out New Zealand tour, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter will bring her live show to Aotearoa, celebrating her newly released fourth studio album 'Creature of Habit’.
Courtney makes returns to Aotearoa in the wake of extensive UK and North American dates. Known for a performance that’s part intimate storytelling, part indie rock, with bursts of raw grunge-like energy, Courtney Barnett live is genuine and authentic. A signature blend of moody guitar, witty, anecdotal lyrics and her laconic talk-singing have cemented her as “one of the most distinctive voices in indie music” (The Mancunion).
Released in March, Creature of Habit is the highly anticipated new album from the indie trailblazer. It’s a bold, emotionally resonant record that explores the central question: how to get out of your own way so you can truly feel your life.
Written in the wake of a relocation from Australia to Los Angeles and the closure of her long-running label Milk! Records, Barnett was grappling with changes that put the future of both her life and career in question. Rather than internalizing those feelings, she decided to bring all this swirling confusion directly into the recording process. With singles ‘Stay in Your Lane(Opens in new tab)’, and ‘Site Unseen (feat. Waxahatchee)(Opens in new tab)’ setting the tone, the album marks a decisive new chapter in Courtney Barnett’s musical evolution.
