Multi-award-winning South African-New Zealander Urzila Carlson is one of Australia and New Zealand's biggest comedy stars.

In 2025, she won the prestigious People’s Choice Award for most tickets sold at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for an incredible fourth time, after wins in 2019, 2022 and 2023.

Also last year, Carlson was cast in Netflix and Happy Madison's rom-com Kinda Pregnant, which was viewed 25.1 million times in its first week, making it the most-watched title on Netflix from February 3 to February 10 and the number one movie globally. In Netflix's recently released 'What We Watched' report for January to June 2025 Kinda Pregnant ranked at number 12 with an incredible 58.9 million views.

    Urzila was fantastic! but the Wellington opera house in the gallery area was jammed packed and sooo hot I’m surprised nobody collapsed.

    We had watched YouTube clips of her show and though not a fan of her rich language, we were compelled to come. Such humor in her story telling had us laughing and as we were going through a sad life experience she was so uplifting. The environment and ambience added to the occasion. A show well worth seeing and an amazing entertainer no holds barred. A must see.
