A Night at the Opera brings together some of New Zealand's finest opera talent for a spectacular one-night-only gala performance with Opus Orchestra.

Hosted by Clarissa Dunn, the evening will blend Dame Malvina Major's personal reflections on her remarkable international career with breathtaking live performances from some of Aotearoa's leading and emerging opera artists.

Te Pae Kōkako – The Aotearoa New Zealand Opera Studio (TANZOS) is based at the University of Waikato. Established in 2023 at the invitation of Dame Malvina Major, the internationally recognised programme provides an 18-month professional pathway for emerging opera singers, preparing New Zealand talent for careers on the world's leading opera stages.

Supporting Waikato Cathedral

All proceeds from A Night at the Opera will support the earthquake strengthening and restoration of Waikato Cathedral Church of St Peter, including the development of a new Music Centre as Stage One of the Cathedral's restoration project.
