The 2026 Kiri Te Kanawa Song Quest Grand Final Gala
The Kiri Te Kanawa Song Quest Grand Final Gala is back for 2026, where the six finalists perform live with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra conducted by Brad Cohen, General Director, NZ Opera on Saturday 11 July, 7.30pm at Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre.
Marking the 70th anniversary of the Song Quest, the legacy continues as the finalists sing it out for the winning title and a share of $95,500 in prizes before International Head Judge, acclaimed mezzo-soprano, Frederica von Stade
An awesome event. Well organized so it ran seamlessly. Seating was very comfortable for a 3hr event. Sound was amazing and stage visibility perfect from any angle. A great night.
Samuel Mataele’s first song brought me to tears of joy, sadness and overwhelming thankfulness to have been there to experience its purity. A wonderful evening of rare gifts shared. Bravo!
6 Fantastic young singers providing wonderful entertainment. The judge was challenged they were all so good but made great decisions. Selected a 19 year old counter tenor was a perfect choice for the first prize. These young people have wonderful futures. Th NZSO was at its usual fabulous level. So lucky to be there.
